My name is Tim Durkin. My wife Lorna and I have lived in the Eugene area for many years. We have a combined family of nine children, and 14 grandchildren. As the years went by it seemed to me that the world changed. There is much more crime, many more drug addicts, and life has gotten cheaper and cheaper. Children are no longer safe in their own yards. People are not safe in their own homes. I felt I had to do something to protect my family. I bought a gun. I bought several guns. I knew that no matter how hard they tried, the police couldn't be everywhere, so I came to the realization that I was going to have to be responsible for myself. I joined the NRA. This organization works tirelessly for our second amendment rights. I realized this wasn't enough. I wanted to be able to protect my family everywhere we went, so I took a class on gun safety and got my concealed carry license. This was fine for me, but I wanted to do more. I decided the best thing I could do was to help as many good people as I could get their concealed carry license. I turned to the NRA for more training. I took courses in training the NRA way, pistol instruction, and finally home firearm safety. Home firearm safety is the class that will qualify you for your concealed carry license. It is now my privilege to offer this class to you. I hope to see you soon.
